conservative side, let’s take a look at the costs of this
new hire training. The average new hire is usually expected
to reach an independent level of competency in 6 weeks and
the average number of hours spent during that 6 week period
in training, monitoring and re-training is conservatively 10
hours per week or a total of 60 hours. The average hourly
salary of the people involved in this training equates out
to be $25 per hour. (That is very conservative especially
when you factor in benefits that are part of normal
compensation plans.) So this gives us a conservative
estimate that new-hire training costs $1,500 per person (60
hours x $25 = $1500).
Most large companies, in a year’s time, will easily have
at least 5 or 6 new employees that need to go through this
training process so you can expect to conservatively spend
$9,000 which is more than what it will cost to train your
